Can we upgrade together as a group?
If you are travelling in a group, you can bid for more than one upgrade in the same auction.
Each person must hold a valid Standard Class ticket for the same train.
How to bid for multiple upgrades
Select the number of upgrades you need.
Set your bid amount per upgrade.
Confirm your bid.
Seatfrog will automatically bid on your behalf up to your selected amount per upgrade.
You may also win an early upgrade if your bid reaches an Instant Upgrade price point.
You will not win more upgrades than the quantity you selected.
How pricing works for groups
Your bid is charged per upgrade.
Total cost = bid amount × number of upgrades selected.
For example:
£19 bid × 2 upgrades = £38
A £3 platform fee per ticket is added to each winning upgrade.
Railcards do not apply to upgrades.
Child upgrades are the same price as adult upgrades.
You will only be charged if you win.
Payment cannot be split across multiple cards.
Why did availability change during the auction?
Upgrade availability may change if:
Another passenger purchases an Upgrade Now.
Another passenger reaches an Instant Upgrade price point.
Other bidders place higher bids.
If there are no longer enough upgrades available for your selected quantity:
You will be notified.
You will not win a partial group upgrade unless you place a new bid for a new quantity.
For example:
If you bid for 2 upgrades and only 1 remains available, you will not automatically win 1 upgrade.
You must place a new bid for a lower quantity if you wish to continue.
Can our group sit together?
Seat allocation is subject to existing reservations.
While we do try, we cannot guarantee that group upgrades will be seated together.
Support cannot manually reassign seats.
When you travel, you're welcome to move if you find unreserved seats together and they are not occupied.
Travelling with children or under 18s
Individuals under 18 cannot place a bid.
An adult may bid for upgrades on behalf of children travelling with them.
However:
Upgrades are not guaranteed to be seated together.
Child upgrades are charged at the same price as adult upgrades.
Railcard discounts do not apply.
How will we receive our upgrades?
If you win:
Upgrade barcodes are loaded into the Seatfrog app.
Copies are sent to the registered email address.
Each passenger must show their upgrade barcode and their valid Standard Class ticket when requested onboard.
The winner can forward upgrade barcodes by email or share them direcly from the app.
Important
When bidding as a group:
You are bidding per seat.
You will only be charged if you win.
A £3 platform fee applies per upgrade.
Seats together are not guaranteed.
Upgrades cannot be transferred to another train.
