How does ‘Upgrade Now’ work?
Upgrade Now allows you to secure an upgrade immediately at a fixed price.
There is no bidding and no auction competition.
If Upgrade Now is available on your train, you can purchase the upgrade instantly in the app.
How it works
If Upgrade Now is available:
You will see the Upgrade Now option on the auction details screen.
You can tap Buy Upgrade to secure the upgrade immediately.
Your upgrade is confirmed as soon as payment is successful.
If you have already placed a bid in the auction:
Your bid will be automatically cancelled.
You will not be charged for your bid.
You will instead pay the Upgrade Now price.
Pricing

The price shown is the price per upgrade.
The price is the same for all customers.
Railcards do not apply.
Child upgrades are the same price as adult upgrades.
There is one upgrade price for all passengers.
A £3 platform fee per ticket is added to each purchase.
Upgrade Now pricing is set in advance based on availability and demand.
You will need a valid Standard Class ticket for the same train for your upgrade to be valid.
Is Upgrade Now refundable?
No.
Upgrade Now purchases are final.
Once purchased, upgrades:
Cannot be refunded.
Cannot be exchanged.

Before selecting Buy Upgrade, check your train time and journey details carefully.
When is Upgrade Now available?
Upgrade Now is not available on every train.
If available, it will appear in the app up to three days before departure.
If you do not see the option, Upgrade Now is not available for that service.
Is Upgrade Now cheaper than buying onboard?
Pricing varies depending on availability and demand.
In many cases, Upgrade Now is cheaper than purchasing an upgrade onboard.
However, lower pricing is not guaranteed.
