No upgrades showing? Set a reminder
If you see a message in the app like “No upgrades yet — you’re a bit early”, you can choose to be notified when upgrades become available.
- Tap Get upgrade alerts
- You’ll be added to the list for that journey
- We’ll notify you as soon as upgrades open — no need to keep checking
You’ll then see a confirmation message like “You’re on the list”.
Which days/dates are upgrades available?
Upgrade availability depends on the train operator and how far in advance tickets have been released.
How far in advance are upgrades available?
Seatfrog upgrades are usually released a few weeks at a time.
When new allocations are received from a train operator, auctions for those services will appear in the app.
If you cannot see an upgrade for your date yet, it may not have been released.
We recommend checking the app regularly for new availability.
Are upgrades available every day?
Not necessarily.
Upgrade availability depends on:
The train operator
The specific route
Demand for that service
Whether First Class seating has been made available for upgrade
Some services may not have upgrades available, even if they run daily.
Are upgrades available at weekends?
Weekend upgrades may not be available as far in advance as weekday services.
This is because weekend timetables are sometimes confirmed later by train operators.
If you are travelling on a Saturday or Sunday and cannot see an upgrade yet, please check back closer to your travel date.
Why can’t I see an upgrade for my train?
There are several reasons you may not see an upgrade:
The date has not yet been released for upgrades.
The train operator has not provided upgrade availability for that service.
First Class seating is not available for upgrade on that train.
The auction has not opened yet.
The auction has already closed.
If your train appears in the app without an upgrade option, upgrades are not currently available for that service.
Can support add an upgrade manually?
No. Upgrade availability is determined by the train operator.
If an upgrade is not showing in the app, we’re unable to manually add one.
