Can I use Train Swap with my rail ticket?

Train Swap is available for Advance tickets, regardless of where the ticket was purchased.

Upgrades, Superfare & Secretfare cannot be swapped.

Eligible tickets

You can use Train Swap if:

• You hold a valid Advance ticket, and

• Your service is operated by a participating train company.

• The service is eligible and appears as a selection.

Train Swap is currently available on selected routes with:

• LNER

• Northern

• CrossCountry

• TransPennine Express

Not all services operated by these companies are eligible.

Important

• Train Swap is not available for Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak, or Anytime tickets.

• Train Swap cannot be used for upgrades.

• Train Swap availability depends on the specific route and service.

• If Train Swap does not appear as an option in the app or website, it is not available.

Advance tickets may also be eligible for a standard exchange under the train operator’s fare rules, which is separate from Train Swap.
