Avanti Standard Premium: routes, tickets & what's included
Looking for a little extra comfort without going all the way to First Class?
Avanti West Coast's Standard Premium offers larger seats, more space and a quieter environment than Standard Class, making it a great option for longer journeys. It's often described as the train equivalent of Premium Economy on a flight.
What is Avanti Standard Premium?
Standard Premium sits between Standard Class and First Class on selected Avanti West Coast services.
You'll get a larger seat with extra legroom, a guaranteed table and access to power sockets and free Wi-Fi, all without the higher cost of First Class.
What's included in Standard Premium?
When travelling in Standard Premium, you'll receive:
- Wider, reclining seats
- More legroom
- A guaranteed table seat
- Power sockets
- Free Wi-Fi
Standard Premium uses the same style of seating as Avanti's First Class, but without the additional First Class benefits.
Is food and drink included?
No.
Unlike First Class, complimentary food and drink are not included with a Standard Premium ticket. However, you can purchase refreshments from the onboard shop on most services.
Which routes have Standard Premium?
Standard Premium is available on many Avanti West Coast services, including routes between:
- London Euston and Manchester
- London Euston and Liverpool
- London Euston and Birmingham
- London Euston and Glasgow
- London Euston and Edinburgh
Availability can vary depending on the train operating the service.
Can I upgrade to Standard Premium?
Yes.
You can purchase a Standard Premium ticket when booking, or you may be able to upgrade from Standard Class by bidding in a Seatfrog auction or by skipping the auction and using Buy Upgrade Now, subject to availability.
What's the difference between Standard Premium and First Class?
Standard Premium gives you a more spacious seat and more comfortable environment, but it does not include the complimentary food, drinks, lounge access or at-seat service available in First Class.
If you're looking for extra comfort at a lower price, Standard Premium can be a great middle ground between Standard and First Class.
